(see recipe below for “Cream of Chicken Soup” substitute mix!
I love this powder because it doesn’t have MSG and it tastes great! It is even made with sea salt instead of regular iodized salt, which is very acidic. It tastes great for everything from chicken soup to any dish made with cream of chicken soup. Since I don’t use cream of chicken or mushroom soups in my recipes (because they are loaded with MSG), I have a substitute recipe for you that you can use in replacement of those poisons! ha ha
“Cream of Chicken Soup” Substitute Mix
- 2 c. dry milk
- 2 ½ c. wheat flour
- ¼ c. bouillon powder (I like Orrington Farms– always check for no MSG)
- 2 Tbls. dried onion
- 1 t. pepper
- 2 t. parsley, dried
Mix all dry ingredients together and store in an airtight container. This is enough to make several cans of cream of chicken soup.
For a one can recipe, bring 1 1/4 c. water to a boil on stovetop. Slowly whisk in ½ c. dry mix and stir until thickened, just a minute or so. Take off heat and use in your recipe as a replacement for one can of cream of chicken soup.
